Well, Jones never hit for a stunningly high batting average, and I think he hit a situation where hit hitting got a bit out of whack, his confidence too a hit, and before long, he couldn't make contact with anything. Rangers hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo is one of the best in the business and has appeared to have Jones straightened out.

Yeah, there's a fine line with warranties. The one key point that I find issue with is that the warranty work must be done by dealers with OEM parts and that this is the cost that gets built into the cost of a warranty. I absolutely hate going to the dealer for warranty work. It seems to take twice as long as it does anywhere else. I agree that this is unlikely to change. In any case, I was more interested in the teleportation option :)

A couple of things for me to chew on here. I'm a Phillies fan, so I remember Andrew Jones in his Braves' days, as one of the best players around. It was amazing how he dropped off the radar so quickly. There's been suspicion cast his way given the controversies in the game today with steroids, etc. I wasn't aware of how he was doing this year until I read your post.

Interesting thought on warranties. I doubt we'll see them go away, because it would take a joint effort from manufacturers and our legislators (not to mention it would need to pass consitutional muster) as most or all states provide for warranties as a matter of law. I don't know that I like the idea anyway. If I buy a car that is a dud and has a part that breaks due to some defect, who should bear the burden of the manufacturer's mistake? Depending on the cost, I suspect many people would bring claims against manufacturers anyway for faulty workmanship, if they walk off the lot with a new car only to find it has defects.
