As you (Johnny) know, I am a longtime fan of Michelle Wie. While it is true that she has faltered a bit at times, but she is still just barely twenty years old, and she has a LOT of upside left.

You don't contend in majors as often as she has without having skills to back it up. Does she need to work on mental aspects of her game - of course. Really, though, what 20 year old doesn't?

The rule about not being allowed to participate in other LPGA events after you shoot an 88 seems weird. I'll sound like a Wie apologist if I blame it on an injury (as she did), so I won't even go that route. Sometimes, players just have a bad day. If someone wakes up on the wrong side of bed, can't find their swing that day, and is battling tough conditions, should a score of 88 on that one bad offset what they did the rest of the year? If a player is consistently shooting in the 80s, that's one thing, but if they're simply having a bad day, cut them some slack.
